NWEH goes states-side

Prof Martin Gibson, CEO of NWEH will be taking part in a panel discussion at BIO 2014 in San Diego. Martin will be speaking alongside Dr Jorgen Vestbo from the University of Manchester, Dr Sue Collier from GSK and the panel is chaired by Prof Sean Sullivan fromthe University of Washington, Seattle. Their session takes place on Thursday 25 June at 14.15 in room 31A. The topic is the Salford Lung Study and lessons for real-world clinical trials.

This conference boasts 20,000 attendees and over one thousand exhibitors. NWEH will be exhibiting as part of the UKTI pavilion (stand 3317) at this event. Alongside our partners from MIDAS, we will be promoting NWEH products and services to healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies and researchers from across the globe.

Martin has also been asked to speak at a breakfast seminar hosted by One Nucleus - the UKs largest BIo Tech networking organisation on NWEH achievements in R&D technology and the place of Manchester as a location for business.

"NWEH benefits greatly from its location in Manchester and its strong relationship with the other elements of the health eco-system and digital economy. The unique set of circumstances has attracted a lot of interest from industry, for example GlaxoSmithKline (Salford Lung Study) have come to work with us to get the benefits of the integrated systems. Quite recently we have established an understanding with Hitachi who has set up its big data laboratory in Manchester partly because we and our partner organisations have the resources to help them in the healthcare sector, our close working relationships with all these organisations and the city’s big data initiatives.”
