FARSITE development supports CLASSIC study

The FARSITE development team are preparing to roll-out major new functionality to support the three year CLASSIC study (Comprehensive Longitudinal Assessment of Salford Integrated Care (CLASSIC): a study of the implementation and effectiveness of a new model of care for long-term conditions) .

As part of the study GPs in Salford will need to identify and communicate with over 10,000 of their patients. Salford CCG was the first user of FARSITE and our solution to this challenge uses our rapid search and find technology to identify the patients coupled with a new integration with DocMan software used throughout general practice. Pseudonymised patients populations selected by the protocol in FARSITE will be shared to FARSITE recruitment where the clinical teams in practice can review the selected patients, merge patient contact details using the letter generation tool and send the letters to DocMan for print and postal fulfilment services.

This solution will provide accurate selection of patients against the study protocol, smooth administrative processes and minimal additional work-load for the practices.

"We were concerned about the scale of the administrative task, but thought that the functionality in FARSITE might be able to help. The team at NWEH listened to our needs and quickly came up with a workable and innovative solution which could be delivered in the tight timescales."
Dr Sheila McCorkindale, GP at Ellenbrook Practice

This phase of the project is due to go-live at the end of July 2014.
